Program Coordinator, Anti-Racism in Sport Campaign
Term: 2 years (with a possibility of extension)
Hours: 37.5 hours/week
Location: Hybrid (Winnipeg, MB)
Remuneration: $54,000 per year
This is a hybrid position requiring some travel across Manitoba.
The Anti-Racism in Sport Campaign (“ARISC”) is seeking a Program Coordinator to support the delivery and coordination of anti-racism initiatives within the sports community. This role requires strong administrative skills, training facilitation experience, and a commitment to advancing racial equity in sport. The Program Coordinator will assist with organizing and delivering training, supporting policy development, and handling communications to engage stakeholders and partners.

Administrative and Program Coordination

- Manage emails, phone calls, and general inquiries related to the campaign.
- Schedule and coordinate anti-racism training sessions with sports organizations, schools, and community groups.
- Maintain records of training sessions, participant feedback, and outreach efforts.
- Provide logistical support for campaign events, workshops, and meetings.
- Assist in grant reporting and funding applications as needed.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure alignment and consistency across program initiatives.
- Represent ARISC at community events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Coordinate and facilitate Youth Council activities, and liaise with ARISC committee members
- Assist with other duties as required to meet project deliverables.

Training Delivery and Presentations

- Deliver anti-racism training and educational presentations to various groups, including sports teams, coaches, officials, and community leaders.
- Travel to rural communities across Manitoba to conduct workshops and engage local stakeholders.
- Assist in adapting and updating training materials to reflect best practices and current research.
- Support facilitators and guest speakers during training sessions.
- Facilitate focus groups for racialized people and religious minorities and their experiences in accessing sport programs and participation

Communications and Outreach

- Support the planning and execution of public awareness campaigns.
- Develop and distribute newsletters, emails, and other outreach materials to engage the community and partners.
- Maintain and update the campaign’s communication channels, including email lists and social media.
- Assist in creating reports and impact stories highlighting the progress and successes of the campaign.

Policy Development Support

- Assist in researching and drafting policies related to anti-racism in sport.
- Support the development of policy recommendations for sports organizations and governing bodies.
- Work with partners to implement anti-racism frameworks within sports institutions.
Qualification and Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (sport, recreation, public administration, social work, humanities, sociology, etc,) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-culturally with people from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively and within multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Minimum two years of experience in project/program coordination (a combination of paid and volunteer experience will be considered)
- Strong understanding of sport in Canada and the issues related to racism in sport. Passion for anti-racism and equity in sport.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Experience in delivering training and presentations, preferably on social justice or equity topics.
- Experience in policy development, research, or advocacy is an asset.
- Comfortable with public speaking and engaging diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email marketing tools, and virtual meeting platforms.
- Ability to travel within Manitoba (valid driver’s license preferred).
- A solid understanding of anti-racism and anti-oppression framework
- Previous work experience around anti-racism and anti-oppression is an asset
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is an asset.
